Universal 410 is a 12% straight chromium electrode used for the welding of type 410 stainless steel in the fabrication of equipment that demands corrosion resistance, good strength and ductility. Alloy 410 is an air hardening material and therefore requires preheat and postweld heat treatments to achieve adequate ductility in the weld deposits. Alloy 410 electrodes provide good corrosion and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1500 degrees F. Deposits are martens tic and therefore not subject to carbide precipitation. Alloy 410 may also be used for welding types 403, 405, 414, 416, and 420 stainless steels and overlaying carbon steels to provide resistance to corrosion, erosion and abrasion. Information provided by Universal Wire Works for their line of welding wire and filler metal. |
