Cabot BLACK PEARLSĀ® 717 Specialty carbon black
Categories: Other Engineering Material; Additive/Filler for Polymer

Material Notes: Product highlights: BLACK PEARLS 717 specialty carbon black delivers an attractive balance of medium jetness, deep blue undertone, easy processing, and good surface quality for coloration of plastic molded parts. It can enable excellent aesthetic performance for moldings used in numerous visible applications.

Key applications: BLACK PEARLS 717 specialty carbon black is used in a variety of applications that require aesthetic performance in plastic molded parts. Its blue undertone makes it a good choice when designers require bluish tones and do not require the level of jetness provided by BLACK PEARLS 800 specialty carbon black products. Its dispersibility assists molders in achieving good surface quality. Additionally, it can typically be loaded into masterbatches at higher dosages than other carbon blacks used for similar applications while still maintaining good masterbatch dilutability. It is typically used for visible parts in:

  • Appliances
  • Sport, leisure, and toy products
  • Housewares
  • Packaging and containers with demanding requirements
  • Some automotive and electronics applications
BLACK PEARLS 717 specialty carbon black can be used in resins for aesthetic applications including ABS and other styrenics, PC and PC blends, PP, PE, and TPOs. BLACK PEARLS 717 specialty carbon black is a pelletized product. A non-pelletized carbon black having similar morphology is available in an easier-to-disperse fluffy form as MONARCH 717 specialty carbon black.

Performance features:

  • Medium jetness
  • Deep blue undertone
  • Easy processing
  • Imparts good surface quality
