Product Description: PROAID AC-18-DSA is a saturated stearyl amine primarily used as a remarkable internal mill release in rubber articles. Proaid AC 18-DSA also acts as a process aid in all polymers. CAS # 124-30-1. Applications: Proaid AC-18-DSA’s promotes release of all types of rubber from rubber mills and calendars. The same chemistry has been found to be the “mill release of choice” for sticky ethylene/acrylic elastomers, ethylene/vinyl acetate, and epichlorohydrin. 0.5 phr in peroxide cured FKM has proven to be an excellent mill as well as mold release. Even general-purpose elastomers like SBR and polychloroprene that are causing mill sticking will release better. The excellent mill and calendar release will carry over to mold release as well. Every production facility that mills rubber should keep Proaid AC-18-DSA handy for troublesome sticking problems. The low melt point facilitates ease of adding Proaid AC-18-DSA on the mill (get it in early in mill mixes so sticking does not get started). Suggested Loadings: 0.50 - 2.00 phr for greatly reduced mill and calendar sticking. A synergistic effect can be found with a combination of Proaid AC-18-DSA (1.0 phr), calcium or zinc stearate (1.5 phr) and Proaid Plus (1.0 phr) for extreme cases of sticking. Usually AC-18-DSA is sufficient by itself to achieve good mill release. The only caveat with DSA is the cure activation that occurs in sulfur cures (it is an amine after all). Adding a good retarder and possibly reducing some accelerator may need to be done to compensate for this effect. Information provided by Akrochem Corporation |
