Characteristics: TPC Group manufactures a high purity diisobutylene (DIB) product based on the polymerization of isobutylene. Applications: DIB is used as a building block raw material for lubricants, dispersants, anti-wear additives, surfactants, silicones, industrial fluids, oxidation inhibitors, and rubber processing chemicals. Preferred diisobutylene-based products include octylphenols, isononyl alcohol, octylsilanes, isononanoyl derivatives, and octylthiols. DIB can also be hydrogenated to saturate the double bond to form isooctane, which is a key component of C8 alkylate. General: TPC Group’s DIB is a high purity isoolefin that is primarily a mixture of two primary isomers: 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-1 and 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-2. Packaging: DIB is sold in railcar quantities, however, trucks and barge quantities are also available. Information provided by TPC Group |
