Waterbased aliphatic blocked polyisocyanate. Baybond® XL 825 is suitable for use as a crosslinker for glassfiber sizings. In combination with Bayhydrol® polyols Baybond® XL 825 can be used for the formulation of water-reducible, lightfast one-component polyurethane baking coatings and as an additive in waterborne baking systems to improve flexibility, impact strength and adhesion. Properties / Applications: Baybond® XL 825 was developed as crosslinker for the sizing of glass fibers used in combination with Baybond binders to reinforce thermoplastics, particularly polyamide. Glass fiber sizes based on Baybond® XL 825 are characterized by their good colorfastness, even at elevated temperatures. The mechanical film properties of sizings based on Baybond® XL 825 are developed fully by postcrosslinking at temperatures from 170 °C for a duration of 20 minutes. The product is compatible with the additives normally used in the formulation of glass sizes, e.g. adhesion promoters, lubricants, antistatic agents and plasticizers.
