This polyurethane casting material is developed for applications that require inexpensive liquid resin filler such as encapsulation of a large electric components or puncture-free tire for low-speed wheels such as of wheel barrows and bicycles. This is a two-part system with a long pot-life. Once you mix part-A and part-B component, it will stay liquid over one hour at room temperature. The material cures to gel consistency in about 4 to 5 hours. The material can be used in service in between overnight and 3 days depending on the physical demand. Because of the long pot life, the required can be mixed in a mixing container then transferred into a low-pressure injection system to inject it into the filling space, such as a tire, from a narrow entrance. This material is made from bio-base components. About 60% of the material is consisted of soybean oil base chemical. There is an odor associated with the soybean oil based chemical. It is unsuitable for applications this odor will be a problem. Because it is largely consisted of vegetable oil based material, the material is hydrophobic and it prevents entry of moisture after it is cured. The material is mechanically weak; the cured gel consistency resembles that of “Finger Jell-O”. It can be easily torn by hands. It is ideal for an application to encapsulate an electric component, which requires re-entry for repair or maintenance. If it is used in mechanically demanding application, such as tire-filling, the material needs to be encapsulated in a strong outer structure. The cured hardness is Shore Durometer OO 42.
