Material Notes: Titanium carbonitride base alloy , also called cermets, with of high hardness, good red hard-ness and wear resistance, medium toughness, high  corrosion resistance to acids and alkalis and hi-temperature oxidation resistance, and low density, used as tool materials for manufacturing cars, tractors and other engine industries; bet for cutting of carbon steel, low and medium alloy steels, and gray cast iron; of high cutting speeds, long tool life and high surface finish also used in seal rings and housings in manufacturing of chemical engineering equipment.
