Dow Surlyn® 8528 Sodium Ionomer

Material Notes: Surlyn® 8528 is a sodium ionomer thermoplastic resin. It is available for use in conventional extrusion and injection equipment, to create various sheets or shapes. Surlyn® 8528 thermoplastic resin is an advanced ethylene/methacrylic acid (E/MAA) copolymer, in which the MAA acid groups have been partially neutralized with sodium ions.

SURLYN® 8528 complies with Food and Drug Administration Regulation 21 CFR 177.1330(a) - - Ionomeric resins, subject to the limitations and requirements therein. This Regulation describes polymers that may be used in contact with food, subject to the finished food-contact article meeting the extractive limitations under the intended conditions of use, as shown in paragraph (c) of the Regulation.

This former DuPont product line is now a Dow product line.
