| Product Description: Akroflon 5R is a white free-flowing PTFE micropowder. The powder is designed for use as an additive in elastomers or plastics where improved lubricity and/or wear resistance is required. PTFE powders can withstand temperatures as high as 260°C (500°F). Akroflon 5R meets FDA requirements of 21 CFR 175.105, 175.300, 176.170, and 176.180. Applications: Akroflon 5R used in elastomeric parts provides slip (low CoF), non-stick, water repellency, release, rub and abrasion resistance to surfaces. Typically, 5 to 50% (by weight) can be added to elastomeric compounds to achieve the desired properties. Improvements in tear strength, abrasion resistance and flex life have been measured when 10 phr or more of Akroflon 5R are incorporated in fluoro-elastomers, fluoro-silicones, EPDM, neoprene and SBR elastomeric compounds.
