Material Notes:	Standard Applications: Mackam OCT-LS is a 50% active aqueous low-salt solution of octyl betaine. It acts as an effective hydrotrope to couple nonionic surfactant into high electrolyte systems. It can tolerate up to 25% sodium hydroxide and is a modest foamer. Mackam OCT-LS will not hydrolyze, even in strong mineral acids. It is useful for producing highly built cleaners with good detergency and high cloud points. Chemical Name: Octyl Betaine CAS No.: 27593-14-2 EINECS: 248-551-8 Information provided by Solvay. The Mackam® brand has been sold to Verdant Specialty Solutions, although this specific grade has been discontinued.
