The in situ-forming and injectable silk hydrogel can be used as a drug and cell delivery carrier for researches in tissue engineering/repair and drug delivery. The drugs and cells to be delivered can be pre-mixed with regenerated silk fibroin solution and further mixed with other components provided in the kit to quickly form hydrogel. Silk hydrogel is distinguished from other biomaterial hydrogels by providing excellent mechanical strength, chemical and physical stability, biocompatibility and degradability. Application: The component A provided in the kit can be quickly dissolved into solution, which transforms into hydrogel after mixing with Component B and C using syringes and an adaptor provided. The gel preparation can either be conducted on site by the users themselves (in situ-forming), with the entire manipulation less than 5 min, or the gel can be prepared and pre-packed in syringes or tubes by the manufacturer so that it can be used directly. Depending on the applications, the in-situ forming hydrogel can be prepared in a concentration range 1-30%, thus ideal for encapsulation and delivery of cells and drugs for in vitro and in vivo studies.
