Unmodified polypropylene has high rigidity and good heat resistance, but poor impact resistance, especially at low temperatures. Blending KRATON D and G polymers with PP significantly improves the toughness at both room and low temperatures. KRATON polymers are block segments of styrene and rubber monomers (A-B, A-B-A, or [A-B]n). The KRATON D series consists of an unsaturated polymer, either butadiene or isoprene, as the rubber monomer.
