Composition: 80% dibenzothiazyl disulphide 20% EPDM/EVA binder and dispersing agents Use Characteristics: The curing accelerator Konson® NOBS-80 causes a considerably long scorch time, great processing safety and a fast full cure. Konson® NOBS -80 is used as primary accelerator for the low sulphur vulcanization or in combination with dithiocarbamate and thiuram accelerators. The vulcanizates obtained provide good ageing resistance and compression set. The scorch times of mixes containing Konson® NOBS -80 in combination with thiuram and dithiocarbamate accelerators are noticeably reduced. Combinations of Konson® NOBS -80 and Konson® TMTM-80 have proved particulary favourable. They cause very short total curing times - though the mixes have good scorch resistance and a very high degree of crosslinking, even in relatively small amounts. Thiourea derivatives have strong secondary acceleration effects on Konson® NOBS -80, especially in mixes containing small amounts of sulphur. In mixes that are accelerated with mercaptanes and thiurams, Konson® NOBS -80 may reduce the onset of cure. Processing Advantages: The thermoplastic, excellent compatible EPDM/EVA binder which is combined with active dispersing promoters allows much more easily and quickly incorporation and excellent dispersion in the rubber mixing. In this way, optimal activity of the effective NOBS is assured. Dosage levels: NR: primary: 0.8 - 1.2 phr with 2.5 - 4 phr sulphur secondary: 0.05 - 0.4 phr with 1-1.5 phr mercapto accelerator and 1.5-3 phr sulphur; SBR: 0.1 - 0.4 phr with 1 - 1.5 phr mercapto accelerator and 1.5 - 2.5 phr sulphur; NBR: 0.05 - 0.4 phr with 1.5 - 2.4 phr sulphur and 0.8 - 1.5 phr sulphenamide accelerator. Applications: Tire treads, carcasses, conveyor belts, floor coverings, footwear, cable insulations. Information provided by Konson® |
