Material Notes: Product Description: CSX691 specialty carbon black has a low surface area and provides formulators an alternative to lamp black.

Key Applications: CSX691 specialty carbon black is an easy to disperse carbon black that can be used in a number of polymer and coatings applications, including:

  • Tinting black in plastics
  • Tinting black in liquid dispersions
  • Infrared (IR) opacifier in expandable polystyrene (EPS) foams
Product Features:
EPS Foams:
  • Morphology and surface chemistry are favorable for preparation and foaming of EPS foams
  • Good infrared absorption characteristics for lambda reduction provide improved thermal performance compared to white EPS
  • Designed to reduce interaction with other additives (e.g. flame retardants) in comparison with other carbon blacks
Tinting Black:
  • Low lot-to-lot variability facilitates consistent performance
  • Easy to disperse
  • Good tinting performance
