Master Bond MasterSil 972TC-LO Silicone
Categories: Polymer; Adhesive; Thermoset; Silicone

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Addition cured type system
  • Certified to ASTM E595
  • Electrically isolating
  • Low shrinkage upon curing
Product Description: Master Bond MasterSil 972TC-LO is a two component silicone with good thermal conductivity and electrical insulation that can be used for bonding, potting, coating and sealing. Significantly, this silicone passes the NASA low outgassing test. It is an addition cured system and does not require air for curing. Unlike many other silicones, it can cure in thick sections or as an adhesive in wide cross sections. From a handling perspective, the mix ratio is a straightforward one to one by weight. Upon mixing, it is a moderate to high viscosity system with good flow properties. After mixing, its working life is relatively long. The curing schedule is 20-40 minutes at 250-300°F or 1-2 hours at 160-200°F. Upon curing, MasterSil 972TC-LO has many desirable attributes. It is capable of transferring heat while retaining electrical insulation properties. It bonds well to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, composites, glass, ceramics as well as many types of rubber and plastics. The system has very good flexibility and elongation. It can withstand aggressive thermal cycling as well as thermal and mechanical shock. Although it is a higher viscosity system, it does have some flow and can be used for potting and encapsulation applications. The system is 100% solids and its color is white. The service temperature range is -120°F to +400°F. This confers a unique blend of properties to this system. It becomes a highly desirable candidate in aerospace, electronic, optoelectronic and specialty OEM applications where vacuum compatibility along with properties inherent to a thermally conductive silicone are required.

Product Advantages:

  • Relatively easy to handle, one to one ratio mix by weight
  • Long working life after mixing
  • Bonds well to many different substrates
  • Can cure in thick and wide sections
  • Good thermal conduction and electrical insulation
  • Meets NASA low outgassing requirements
