Butyl Methacrylate polymers are more flexible and softer than Methyl Methacrylate types. The polymers are compatible with nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber, some phenolics and maleics. Butyl methacrylates generally have better external durability than methyl methacrylates as the latter need to be plasticised. Application: These resins are commonly used as carriers for aerosols in such applications as insecticides and artificial "snow". They can also be used in clear lacquers for the protection of chromium plate and non-ferrous metals. These polymers are soluble in aliphatics and can be used as lacquers, silk screen printing inks and media for the ceramic industry. Information provided by Lucite International |
