Nouryon Trigonox 29-C75 Acrylics 1,1-Di(tert-butylperoxy)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane, 75% solution in isododecane
Categories: Other Engineering Material

Material Notes: Trigonox 29-C75 is an initiator (75% active ingredient in odorless mineral spirits) for (co)polymerization of acrylates and methacrylates.

CAS number: 6731-36-8

EINECS/ELINCS No: 229-782-3

Applications: Polymerization of styrene: Trigonox 29-C75 can be utilized to increase polymerization rates at temperatures between 90- 120°C (194-248°F). A comparison is made between thermally and Trigonox 29 initiated polymerization of styrene in a mass process, applying a typical temperature scheme (110-140-180°C). Due to its bifunctionality and the more constant reaction rate using Trigonox 29, the final polymer has a higher molecular weight and shows reduced dispersity. Other applications: Trigonox 29-C75 can also be used for the (co)polymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile, acrylates and methacrylates in the temperature range between 90°C and 120°C and for the polymerization of diethylene glycol di(allylcarbonate) based optical monomers. The use level of Trigonox 29-C75 will depend on the particular cure parameters being used. For Thermoset: Trigonox 29-C75 is a highly efficient midrange initiator for curing unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins at elevated temperatures. Typical applications include prepreg, premix, BMC, TMC, SMC and pultrusion. Trigonox 29-C75 is stable in the presence of pigments, especially carbon black, and provides excellent catalyzed shelf-life in BMC and SMC formulations.
