Carboxyl end groups: <35 meg/kg. Diethylene glycol content: <1.8 wt%. Acetaldehyde content: <2.0 ppm. Fines 0.05% through 28 mesh as manufactured. Moisture content <0.1% as manufactured. Chip size <2.2 g/100 chips. Crystallinity > 50%.2201U has been engineered for containers in high temperature environments. It is designed to improve thermal stability in heat set hot fill applications like juice bottles and food jars and in pasteurized applications like beer bottles. 2201U will also protect the contained product from UV light. The resin has an optimal intrinsic viscosity of 0.82 dl/g. Packaging made from this resin has excellent clarity and is noted for its dimensional stability, which prevents shrinkage and expansion of the container, even after the post-fill heat treatment. The resin may be used to package nutraceutical beverages as well as juices, teas, foods, and malt beverages. This resin complies with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for certain food contact applications. Containers made from PET are lightweight, have excellent clarity, and are shatterproof.
