Master Bond EP42HT-4AOMed Black Two part, thermally conductive epoxy for medical device manufacturing
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Epoxy; Epoxy Adhesive; Epoxy, Thermally Conductive

Material Notes: Master Bond EP42HT-4AOMed Black is a two component epoxy adhesive, sealant, coating and casting system with a number of noteworthy features. It has a forgiving mix ratio of 100 to 40 by weight along with very good flow properties. It cures readily at ambient temperatures or more rapidly at elevated temperatures. To optimize the properties, the best cure schedule is overnight at room temperature, followed by 2-3 hours at 150-200°F. EP42HT-4AOMed Black has good thermal conductivity, while still maintaining excellent electrical insulation values. It bonds well to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, composites, glass, ceramics, rubbers and plastics. Since this system contains filler, an added benefit is enhanced dimensional stability and very low shrinkage upon curing. EP42HT-4AOMed Black has lower exotherm and is castable to thicknesses up to and exceeding 2-3 inches. EP42HT-4AOMed Black has stellar resistance to repeated autoclaving, radiation and aggressive chemical sterilants. This epoxy is also notable in that it is cryogenically serviceable. Its temperature range is 4K to +400°F. It is most likely to be considered in specialty medical device applications.

Product Advantages:

  • Relatively easy handling
  • Long working life
  • Conducts heat while still electrically insulative
