Mallard Creek Polymers Rovene® 4487 Carboxylated Styrene-Butadiene Emulsion
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Rubber or Thermoset Elastomer (TSE); Styrene Butadiene Rubber

Material Notes: ROVENE® 4487 is a carboxylated styrene-butadiene emulsion that has a firm hand with excellent strength properties. This binder is a low VOC containing latex that is cross-linkable with external cross-linking agents. ROVENE® 4487 can be compounded to high solids using calcium carbonate, clays, and alumina trihydrate as fillers; sodium polyacrylate thickeners are commonly used to obtain the required application viscosity. ROVENE® 4487 imparts good wet/dry tensile strength, and has good adhesion to a wide variety of surfaces. This adhesion contributes to the good tuft binds and excellent delaminations in carpet applications.
APPLICATIONS: ROVENE® 4487 is recommended for use in carpet and nonwoven backcoatings, and has found applications in the adhesive industry.
