Westlake EMAC® SP 1257 Ethylene-Methyl Acrylate Copolymer  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Film; Thermoplastic; Ethylene Methyl Acrylate; Ethylene-Methyl Acrylate Copolymer, Film Grade

Material Notes: 20% Methyl Acrylate Content. Characteristics: FDA Clearance for Packaging of Most Foods, Including Aseptic Packaging; Less Crystalline and Softer than Polyethylene; Excellent Heat Stability Allows Processing Temperature Range of 280-600°F; Non-corrosive at all Temperature Ranges; No FDA Thickness Limitations; Contains a High Level of Slip and Antiblock Additives

Applications:Film: Excellent Heat Seal Response at Low Temperatures, Making it a Good Candidate for the Heat Seal Layer in Various Coextrusion Constructions; Coatings & Laminations: Higher Neck-In but Similar Drawdown vs. Polyethylene, Excellent Heat Seal Response at Low Seal Temperatures, Processing Temperature Range - 580-600°F, Can be Drawn as Low as 4 lbs. per ream, Gas Barrier and Grease Resistance are Slightly Less than those of LDPE; Coextrusion: Excellent Coextrusion Tie Layer for LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP, EVA, EEA, Ionomer, PET, PC, PVDC and rigid PVC; Injection Molding: Processing Temperature 360-600°F, Less Mold Shrinkage than LDPE, Produces Very Tough, Stress Crack Resistant Parts

Eastman Chemical Company sold its polyethylene business to Westlake Chemical Corporation in Dec. 2006. This grade no longer appears in the Westlake product line.
