Tendon
Categories: Wood and Natural Products

Material Notes: Bones have a higher compressive strength than tensile strength. Tendons have a high tensile strength and negligible compressive strength. Therefore a complete body is structured such that the skeletal system generally sustains compressive loads while tendons bear tensile loads. Muscle tissue has comparatively little strength, either tensile or compressive, but is capable of performing work whereas bones and tendons do no work.
