Ti-24.5Al-17Nb Titanium Aluminide
Categories: Metal; Intermetallic; Nonferrous Metal; Titanium Alloy

Material Notes: Titanium Aluminide Ti3Al based alloy. Ti-24.5Al-17Nb refers to the atomic percentage composition. The niobium addition of over > 15 atom%, and therefore formation of the O phase, improves toughness versus Ti3Al and lower Nb compositions. Intermetallic aluminides have good mechanical properties and stability to be used in high temperature environments. A thin protective Al2O3 coating forms to provide oxidative stability.
