Clwyd Compounders NBR L Nitrile butadiene rubber – low CAN
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Rubber or Thermoset Elastomer (TSE)

Material Notes: On NBR with low ACN: the lower the acrylonitrile content the poorer the oil and chemical resistance but higher the low temperature properties. Low acrylonitrile will have brittle points at -45C.

Typical applications:

  • Aeronautical (good heat resistance, up to around 110 C)
  • Oil resistant seals and diaphragms
  • Non-latex gloves
  • Rollers
Advantages:
  • Excellent resistance to oil
  • Good resilience
  • Physical and chemical properties dependent on the ACN content; the higher the ACN content the better the resistance but the lower the flexibility
Disadvantages:
  • Inferior to NR in terms of physical strength and flexibility
  • Can be attached by ozone, aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, esters and aldehydes.
