Material Notes: General processing of AISI 4142: Oil quenched. Forging temp.: 1205°C (2200°F) max. Annealing temp.: 790 - 845°C. Hardening temp.: 845 - 870°C. Tempered to desired hardness.

Medium hardenability. Applications include break dies, bending dies, support tooling, die holders, gears, flanges, collets, arbors, spindles, axles, clutch parts, forming rolls, wrenches and other hand tools, and various machine tool components.
