Pyrotek Pyrocast AR PLUS Castable Refractory
Categories: Ceramic; Oxide; Silicon Oxide

Material Notes: Pyrocast AR Plus is a fused silica refractory castable inert to molten aluminum and its alloys. Parts cast from Pyrocast AR Plus are heat-treated to ensure that free and combined water are removed. Because Pyrocast AR Plus is lighter than molten aluminum, it floats, minimizing the potential for refractory inclusions.

Applications

  • Hot-Top table sections
  • Transfer & stub troughs
  • Launder linings
  • Filter boxes
  • Sheet ingot spouts
  • Control pins
  • Furnace tubes

Advantages

  • Thermal shock resistance
  • High erosion resistance
  • High service temperature
  • Smooth cast surface
  • Dimensionally stable
  • Preheating unnecessary
  • Easily cleaned
  • Non-wetting
