Latrobe LSS™ D5 Tool Steel (ASTM D5)
Categories: Metal; Ferrous Metal; Alloy Steel; Carbon Steel; High Carbon Steel; Tool Steel; Air-Hardening Steel

Material Notes: TLS D5 tool steel is an air hardening, high-carbon, high-chromium, tool steel that is characterized by a cobalt addition which provides unique resistance to galling and pick-up. The cobalt also imparts some resistance to tempering, which makes TLS D5 suitable for some semi-hot work tooling applications.

Information Provided by Timken Latrobe Steel.

Timken sold Latrobe in December 2006. They are now Latrobe Specialty Steels Co.
