DuPont Melinex® DuPont Melinex® 854 is a clear, one side coextruded heat sealable surface similar to Melinex® 850. The opposite surface is adhesion pretreated to accept a wide range of both water and solvent ink systems. The pretreated surface also provides improved adhesion for various coatings, adhesives and extruded polyethylene.

Melinex® 854 is a coextruded, biaxially oriented, one side treated polyester film that is compliant with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations under 21 CFR 177.1630, Sections (f) and (g) of the food additive regulations. The non-pretreated side may safely be used as, or as a component of, plastics intended for use in contact with all types of food under all conditions of use prescribed in this regulation, including its use to contain foods during oven baking or cooking at temperatures above 250°F. The pretreated side can be used in applications requiring food contact with all non-aqueous types of food (excluding alcoholic beverages) at temperatures up to and above 250°F (including oven baking or cooking) and for alcoholic beverages (not to exceed 50 percent alcohol by volume) at ambient temperatures.
