Chevron Phillips MC9520 Rubber Modified Polystyrene  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Polystyrene (PS); Polystyrene, Impact Modified

Material Notes: Description

Chevron MC9520 is a medium impact, injection grade polystyrene resin with a unique balance of flow and heat distortion temperature properties. The combination of properties allows it to be molded on fast cycles into products that offer impressive performance properties, particularly in practical toughness tests. Chevron rubber modified polystyrene MC9520 natural complies with Food Additive Regulation 21CFR177.1640 for polystyrene and rubber modified polystyrene, which states that such materials may be safely used in contact with foods.

Applications

The properties of Chevron MC9520 suggest its use in applications requiring good flow and set-up characteristics (such as thin-walled containers and air conditioner grills), good dimensional stability and resistance to cold flow (such as closures) and good practical toughness (such as toilet seat covers and housewares.Information provided by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.

The Chevron Phillips polystyrene product line was transferred to Americas Styrenics in 2008.
