Chromium Nitride (CrN) PVD Coating
Categories: Ceramic; Nitride; Other Engineering Material; Ceramic/Metallic Coating

Material Notes: This silver/gray coating offers excellent corrosion resistance, while its enhanced thermal stability and oxidation resistance improves performance in cutting and forming of copper, nickel, Monel, and titanium metals and alloys. Offers improved performance with die casting of aluminum and zinc, replacement of hard chrome plating, copper machining, and glass fabrication.. As with TiN, feeds and speeds can be increased and tool life can improve by as much as 800%. Forming operations with abrasive materials should see improvements beyond those experienced with TiN. Typical coating thickness is 1-5 µm. Adhesion measured by scratch test is 100.0 N.
