Cabot CAB-O-SIL® TS-622 Fumed Silica

Material Notes:	CAB-O-SIL TS-622 fumed silica is a medium surface area fumed silica that has been surface-modified with dimethyldichlorosilane. The treatment renders it more hydrophobic. CAB-O-SIL TS-622 fumed silica is characterized by: High purity Aggregated structure Submicron particle size Low bulk density Hydrophobic surface chemistry Application Information: CAB-O-SIL TS-622 fumed silica was designed for use as a reinforcing agent for RTV-1 silicone sealants. The silica surface area and treatment have been optimized to provide excellent sealant performance and maintain good processability. Silicone Sealants: CAB-O-SIL TS-622 fumed silica provides sag and slump resistance in uncured RTV-1 sealants and reinforcement in cured RTV-1 sealants comparable to untreated fumed silica of equivalent surface area. Additionally, the surface treatment enablesthe formulator to disperse the silica more quickly and achieve better transparency and shelf-life performance over time than with untreated fumed silicas. Compared to untreated or lower surface area fumed silicas, CAB-O-SIL TS-622 fumed silica provides: Greater compatibility with silicone polymer for: Faster wet-in or incorporation Better dispersion Good sealant surface smoothness and appearance Lower adsorbed moisture for: Longer sealant shelf-life Reduced cross-linker requirement Higher specific surface area relative to 150m2/g fumed silicas* for: Better reinforcement at equal silica loading Increased transparency of clear sealants Information provided by Cabot Corporation
