Cabot BLACK PEARLS® 4840 Specialty carbon black
Categories: Other Engineering Material; Additive/Filler for Polymer

Material Notes: Product highlights: BLACK PEARLS 4840 specialty carbon black delivers exceptional surface quality and retention of mechanical properties, as well as excellent color performance, for plastic compounds used in electronics and automotive applications.

Key applications: BLACK PEARLS 4840 specialty carbon black is highly dispersible which allows masterbatch producers and compounders to achieve superior surface smoothness, mechanical performance, and color performance in visible molded parts in applications including:

  • Consumer electronics
  • Automotive interiors and exterior components
  • Home appliances
  • Other applications where moldings are visible
BLACK PEARLS 4840 specialty carbon black’s high levels of dispersibility and color performance make it well-suited for use in engineering resins including ABS, PC, PA, and POM. These performance benefits also make it an excellent choice for polyolefins, TPOs, and formulations where processors typically have difficulty dispersing carbon black. It can be incorporated into a compound via masterbatch or direct addition.

Performance features:

  • Exceptional surface smoothness and preservation of polymer mechanical properties
  • Excellent jetness and blue tone performance
  • High levels of UV protection
  • Processing ease due to a high level of dispersibility
