The 1% Co content is a good grain refiner, and as a result, this alloy is used instead of beryllium-copper alloys C82500 and C23400 when thin sections must be cast at high temperatures or when thick and thin sections are present within the same casting in order to achieve a uniform fine-grained structure. The higher cobalt content imparts better wear resistance but less desirable polishability and machinability. Typical uses are comparable to those of beryllium-copper alloys C82500 and C23400.> Test specimen: solution treated at 790 to 800°C. |
