Phillips 66 FC Fluid-D ISO Grade 46
Categories: Fluid; Lubricant

Material Notes: Description: Conoco FC Fluid-D is a premixed, ready-to-use fluid for hydraulic systems, such as those found in underground-mining equipment that operate where fire-hazard and other personnel safety concerns require water content for fire control. It is typically used in hydraulic systems that operate at pressures as high as 2,000 psi, including die-casting services, steel mills, underground mining and power transmissions. It is approved by the Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FMRC) as a Group I hydraulic fluid and meets U.S. Steel Requirement #171. It is dyed red for easy leak detection. FC Fluid-D does not contain nitrites and, therefore, cannot form nitrosoamines. To prevent water loss, it should not be used where hydraulic sump temperatures exceed 150°F. To maintain adequate fire resistance, water content should not be allowed to drop below 30 percent by volume. Only distilled, deionized or controlled boiler feedwaters should be used for makeup. Filters, seals, packing, gaskets, pipe-joint compounds, paints and metals must be compatible with glycol/water fluids. Filters 25 micron and smaller have been used successfully in systems using FC Fluid-D. Use Viton, EPDM, silicone, butyl, Buna N or neoprene seals; avoid cork and leather. Compatible metals include copper, brass, iron (cast) and steel. Aluminum is not compatible. Glycol/water fluids should not be used in systems that include solder, tin, lead, magnesium, zinc, galvanized piping or cadmium, since the fluids will corrode these metals. Glycol/water fluids are incompatible with conventional industrial paints; use special paints and coatings. Has no fire or flash point.
