Pyrotek SF-50 Foamed Fused Silica Insulation Board
Categories: Ceramic; Oxide; Silicon Oxide

Material Notes: SF-50 is characterized by its uniform open cell structure which allows it to be machined to close tolerances. It can be drilled, sawed or modified with conventional tools. For quick construction of structures, SF-50 is easily joined together with Pyrotek's FSC-2000 fused silica cement. SF-50 has excellent volume stability which allows for its use in severe cyclic conditions. Additionally, the absence of any flux or other impurities allows for its use in chemically critical applications.

Applications

  • Back-up thermal insulation
  • Furnace door, roof and siding
  • Wall lining
  • Vessel liners
  • Aluminum trough liners
  • Reflectors for quartz lamps and infra-red heaters
  • Heat treating and dies
  • Tooling fixtures
  • Incinerators
  • Brazing fixtures
  • Gas take-up liners
  • Thermal barriers
  • Nuclear applications

Advantages

  • Exceptional thermal insulation properties
  • Exceptional resistance to thermal shock
  • Volume stability over a wide temperature range
  • Excellent dielectric strength
  • Ease of shaping provides freedom in engineering design and ease of construction
