Most ALBIFLEX® products are epoxy-silicone block copolymers that can be used to formulate high performance elastomers. They can be cured with most commercially available epoxy hardeners, except aromatic amines. Systems with an outstanding combination of properties can be designed:- high thermal shock resistance and temperature stability
- hardness between Shore A 70 and D 60, depending on the curing agent used, with excellent elongation
- high mechanical stability
- excellent adhesion on most substrates
- lower water vapor permeability than that of silicones
- very low moisture absorption
Upon curing, ALBIFLEX® 246, 296, and 348 form a segmented molecular structure consisting of soft polysiloxane and rigid polyepoxy segments. When the polysiloxane and epoxy units in the polymer structure are combined, an elastomeric material is created that has both the outstanding electrical and thermal properties of silicones and the high mechanical strength and excellent adhesion of epoxy resins. Application: ALBIFLEX® products are used in all applications where improved flexibility or toughness of the cured resin is desired without sacrificing other properties and to formulate unique adhesives and sealants. Examples of possible uses for ALBIFLEX® include: - fibre-reinforced materials and composites
- applications in electrical/electronic equipment, for example, casting, potting, encapsulation
- structural adhesives
