Microtherm Group MT Thermosphere® Moldable Insulation Paste
Categories: Ceramic; Oxide; Silicon Oxide; Other Engineering Material

Material Notes: MT Thermosphere® is a low density temperature resistant paste with excellent thermal insulation properties from cryogenic to high temperature exposure. It is a perfectly seamless insulation system. MT Thermosphere® is self drying and moldable. It dries by the evaporation of the water content. If required, it can be finished by painting or the application of a covering material.

Non-combustible to Euro Class A1 (DIN EN 13501-1:2002)

Hydrophobic at temperatures < 350ºC (662ºF) when set.

    Properties
  • Formulation based on glass microspheres in inorganic binder.
  • Capable of continuous single sided exposure to 650ºC (approx. 1200ºF).
  • Non-combustible to Euro Class A1.
  • Paste will air dry but drying can be accelerated by heating to no higher than 200ºC (approx. 390ºF).
  • No shrinkage when drying.
  • Good thermal insulation.
  • Low density / low weight.
  • Suitable for insulation of complex shapes in inaccessible areas.
  • Environmentally safe.
  • Hydrophobic.
    Applications
  • Typical application temperature range from -20 to 600ºC (approx. 0 to 1110ºF).
  • Precast shapes for pipes and difficult areas.
  • Penetration seals.
  • Gap sealing in insulation systems for continuity of protection.
  • On site repairs of existing insulation systems.
  • Any application where conventional insulation block or panel is difficult to use.
