Glyptal 8001 Insulating Enamel
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Alkyd

Material Notes: GLYPTAL 8001 is a red, insulating enamel that can be air-dried or baked. Films of this paint have excellent humidity and salt water resistance as well as dielectric strength. Glyptal 8001 Red offers good heat aging properties and oil resistance. This paint is not suitable for the inside coating of dielectric oil containers.

SUGGESTED USES

Glyptal 8001 is suggested for coating motor stators, field coils, end windings, bus bars, and switch bases. It adheres well to molded phenolics and phenolic varnish films. This paint can also be used as a metal primer where some degree of corrosion resistance is needed.

APPLICATION

Glyptal 8001 Red Enamel is designed for use by spray, dip, or flow coat. For best results apply on clean, dry surfaces at temperatures above 50 ºF.

Reduction:

Spray- Reduce with 1500 Thinner to a viscosity of 24-28 seconds (#2 Zahn Cup)

Dip or Flow- Reduce with Aromatic 100 to a viscosity of 30-35 seconds (#2 Zahn Cup)
