3M Dyneon™ THV 221GZ Fluoroplastic Granules
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Fluoropolymer

Material Notes: 3M™ Dyneon™ Fluoroplastic Granules THV 221GZ is a flexible, transparent fluoroplastic composed of tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, and vinylidene fluoride in the form of pellets. It provides a balance of low temperature processing, low flammability, thermal stability, and melt processability. It can be used to prepare extruded films, tubes, profiles, and wire coatings. It is useful for applications that require a high level of flexibility, transparency, low temperature fusion or bonding capability with moderate chemical resistance. Laminated films of this product exhibit excellent weatherability and good anti-soiling properties. This product can be E-beam cured without the need of pro-rads to improve its high temperature capability with minimal loss of flexibility. Process at relatively low temperatures compared to other fluoroplastics and may not require the same level of corrosion resistant equipment as that used with higher melting fluoroplastics. However, it should be remembered that THV is a fluoroplastic and should be treated accordingly.

    Features and Benefits:
  • Ultra flexible grade of THV
  • Processing profile allows coprocessing with olefinic plastics and hydrocarbon elastomers
  • Excellent chemical and permeation resistance
  • High transparency
  • Low flammability
  • Bondable to itself and other substrates (for multi-layer constructions)
  • E-beam crosslinkable
