ExxonMobil Santoprene® 8271-55B100 Thermoplastic Elastomer  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Elastomer, TPE; Thermoplastic Vulcanizate Elastomer (TPV)

Material Notes: A soft, colorable, specialty, non-hygroscopic thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) in the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) family. It is especially formulated to bond to ABS, PS, PC, PMMA, ASA, PET and PPO/PS blends for applications where hard/soft combinations are required. The raw materials of this grade are listed in FDA regulations 21 CFR 177.1210 (Closures with sealing gaskets for food containers) and 21 CRF 177.2600 (Rubber articles intended for repeated use), or are considered as generally recognized as safe (GRAS). Also, this grade has passed the end use extraction testing required in these specific regulations for aqueous-based foods only, and it complies with the good manufacturing practices required in 21 CFR 110. This grade of Santoprene 8000 TPV is shear-dependent and can be processed on conventional thermoplastics equipment for injection molding or extrusion. It is polyolefin based and completely recyclable.

  • Designed for excellent adhesion onto ABS, PS, PC, PMMA and ASA (cold insert or 2K [two-shot] molding).
  • Recommended for applications requiring superior part surface appearance.
  • Designed for soft touch applications.
