| Laponite EL has been developed to produce shear sensitive and thixotropic structure in water based formulated products. It is particularly useful in formulations that contain higher levels of salts, alkalis or surfactants and will show increased efficiency and gel strength in such systems, when compared with other Laponite grades. Laponite EL shows strong synergistic interactions when use in combination with polymeric co-thickeners such as CMC, xanthan gum and polyacrylates in many different applications such as surface coatings, liquid cleaners and personal wash products. When hydrated in water at up to 3% concentration, Laponite EL will produce low viscosity translucent colloidal dispersions. The low viscosity of this dispersion makes it easy to produce a homogenous mixture when it is combined with other formulation ingredients. On addition to a wide range of types of formulations Laponite EL will produce an instantaneous build in viscosity of the system.Information provided by Southern Clay Products |
