Material Notes: ESPOLEX® TPE Series is a group of thermoplastic elastomers produced by Sumitomo Chemical Company. Among its material advantages, ESPOLEX® TPE Series is distinguished by offering many low-density grades that can provide substantial weight and cost savings over higher-density thermoplastic elastomers. In this regard, SUMITOMO CHEMICAL introduces specific gravity as a significant factor in reducing unit cost and weight. Products molded from ESPOLEX® TPE Series exhibit rubber-like properties that range from a soft elastic to a semi-hard rubber material. Like all thermoplastic elastomers, ESPOLEX® TPE Series offers substantial savings over thermoset rubber in manufacturing since it is processed using standard thermoplastic processing equipment and techniques, and it does not require the vulcanization required by conventional rubbers.
