Material Notes: Property data is typical for commercially available yttria stabilized zirconia ceramics, and varies with processing and exact composition. The yttrium oxide addition stabilizes the high temperature tetragonal zirconia phase and prevents transformation to the room temperature stable monoclinic phase.

YSZ has high strength and corrosion resistance. Used for structural components, coatings, wear parts, fiber optic ferrules and sleeves, oxygen sensors, and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC).
