Collagen is an insoluble fibrous protein present in the connective tissue and extracellular matrix. There are about 16 types of Collagen. Type I, II, and III Collagen make up around 80-90% of total Collagen in the body. The basic unit of Collagen is a triple-stranded helix.Application: Collagen is used as a substrate for culturing a variety of cells, such as coating of culture dishes and the preparation of Collagen gels. Morphology: lyophilized (clear, colorless solution after reconstitution) Uses: 5 µg/cm2 for the coating of cell culture vessels; for the preparation of Collagen gels, a final concentration of 2 to 3 mg/ml is used. |
