Fields of application: Extrusion blow molding, film or fiber extrusion, (thinwall) injection molding, sheet extrusion and thermoforming of PP resins (both homopoloymer and random copoloymer). Examples: Beverage and food packaging, housewares, appliance parts, medical packaging, media packaging, office supplies, protective packaging, BOPP film.ADD-VANCE® CL 510 contains a ‘third generation’ clarifying agent. This clarifying agent increases the rate of crystal initiation by many orders of magnitude, resulting in many more crystals of smaller size. The result is crystals smaller than the wavelength of visible light that allow light to pass through, thus offering enhanced clarity. Due to the strong nucleating effect of the active ingredient, increased barrel temperatures may be necessary to ensure complete mold fill. Polished mold surfaces are necessary to achieve clarity. As the active ingredient is not compatible with many nucleating agents, it is recommended to use ADD-VANCE® CL 510 only in combination with unnucleated PP resins. Advantages: Good clarity, gloss and surface smoothness in PP; Higher throughputs; Improved physical properties: e.g. higher stiffness and heat distortion temperature; Improved chemical and heat resistance, also acts as a moisture barrier; No taste, no odor; No plate-out on cooling surfaces; Low material density; Microwavability; Superior hot fill properties; Significant cost savings compared to other material options; Non-sticking pellets, dust free dosing; and Safe and easy handling. Regulations: ADD-VANCE® CL 510 is suitable for food contact applications, e.g. cleared for food contact applications by the FDA, HPB and BGA. Former ADDCOMP product line, acquired by BYK. |
