Mid-Mountain Materials SILTEX® 18 Amorphous Silica Textile
Categories: Ceramic; Glass; Glass Fiber; Oxide; Silicon Oxide; Other Engineering Material; Composite Fibers

Material Notes: Description: SILTEX is a family of high performance textile fabric that is comprised of high purity, high strength amorphous silica fibers, woven into a strong, flexible fabric designed for use where severe temperature conditions exist.

SILTEX 18 is manufactured to a finished weight of 18 ounces per square yard. Its unique properties make it well suited for protection of personnel and equipment against moderate welding splatter sparks, grinding of metals, etc. SILTEX 18 is also excellent for use in engineered thermal insulation systems designed for severe temperatures, such as Turbine Covers, Exhaust Silencer Covers, etc.

The amorphous silica fibers that make up all SILTEX products are unaffected by most chemicals, except strong alkalis, hydrofluoric acid or sodium.

All SILTEX fabrics are available in standard “C” and pre-shrunk (fired) versions; Fabrics are available with several coating/treatment options that enhance certain properties of the product in order to meet required performance characteristics.
