Dow Elvaloy® 3217 AC Ethylene and 17% Butyl Acrylate Copolymer
Categories: Polymer; Film; Thermoplastic; Ethylene Butyl Acrylate

Material Notes: Elvaloy® 3217 AC contains antioxidant, slip and antiblock additives.

Elvaloy® 3217 AC has been developed for film applications requiring a combination of softness, toughness and low friction. Typical applications are hygiene films and examination and veterinary gloves. Flexibility and easy sealing make it suitable for colostomy, ileostomy and urinary pouches.

Processing characteristics of Elvaloy® 3217 AC are similar to LDPE and conventional polyethylene extruders are recommended. Elvaloy® 3217 AC works very well in both hot bar and high frequency welding units. The low seal temperature ensures short welding cycles and little impact on packed content. The high polarity of EBA gives good performance in high frequency welding. The slip and antiblock content is adapted to production of thin films. For thicker films, mixing with Elvaloy® 3117 is recommended to increase friction.
