Chemical Concepts Chem-Set™ 718 Synthetic Turf Adhesive
Categories: Polymer; Adhesive; Thermoset; Polyurethane, TS; Thermoset Polyurethane, Adhesive

Material Notes: Turf-set 718 is a one component, moisture curing, solvent based polyurethane adhesive designed for synthetic turf applications. This adhesive exhibits high “green strength” properties for good wet grab but its uniqueness is due to its inherent superior application properties that allow the adhesive to retain ridges or high points immediately after spreading which aid in the bonding to synthetic turf backings, seam tapes and other non uniform or porous materials. These application properties permit easy field application even under adverse weather conditions.

AW-718 has many uses in bonding; golf surfaces, landscaping surfaces, playgrounds and athletic fields.

Once curing is complete the adhesive develops outstanding heat, water and solvent resistance and will remain flexible in low temperature conditions. Turf-set 718’s unique thixotropy allows this adhesive to spread very easily due to its thinning capabilities. Turf-set 718 has been designed to be used on synthetic turf and synthetic turf seaming fabrics with equal success. The adhesive should be applied with a notched squeegee, notched trowel or knife coating applicator directly after removing from container. Once applied, any high spots made by a trowel-like applicator will remain standing for proper mating of the turf and the seaming material. For best result an open time of 10 – 15 minutes would allow the adhesive to “tack up” aiding in enhancing its wet grab/green strength characteristics. Although the adhesive’s viscosity appears very high it has the property of spreading smoothly and evenly with little effort in all weather conditions.
