Akrochem AKROFORM® MBTS-90/EPR/P Dispersion
Categories: Other Engineering Material

Material Notes: Product Description: Akroform MBTS-90/EPR/P is a 90% dispersion of MBTS in a polymeric binder. MBTS is the most widely used organic accelerator. It is very active at temperatures above 280°F. MBTS requires the presence of zinc oxide, fatty acid and sulfur for optimal performance. It is activated by aldehyde amines, dithiocarbamates, alkaline and basic materials; in general, guanidines and thiurams. MBTS is also used as a retarder in non-sulfur modified polychloroprene cure systems and is a potent retarder in peroxide cures. To retard a peroxide-cured EPDM, add 0.25-0.50 phr MBTS and 1.0-2.0 phr TAC coagent to slow scorch but maintain state-of-cure. MBTS is a reasonably safe processing accelerator, but increased scorch resistance can be obtained by using Retarder PX, Retarder AK, or Retarder SAFE. MBTS can also be used as a mild peptizer for natural rubber.

Chemical Dispersions: Polymer bound or encapsulated dispersions are a proven means of upgrading plant safety, efficiency, quality & raw material control. Akrochem polymer bound or encapsulated dispersions eliminate any irritating dust, as well as other potential hazards in handling powders in the plant. The physical form is easy to handle and weigh accurately. As a dispersion, better uniformity of the mix at low process temperatures is possible.
