Sandvik Bioline 11R51/11R51 HV Wire
Categories: Metal; Ferrous Metal; Austenitic; Stainless Steel

Material Notes: Sandvik Bioline 11R51 and Sandvik Bioline 11R51 HV (vacuum remelted) are austenitic stainless steels alloyed with molybdenum that are characterized by high tensile strength and high resistance to corrosion, fatigue and relaxation. Vacuum remelted Sandvik Bioline 11R51 HV offers higher cleanliness compared to Sandvik Bioline 11R51, which if usually required for medical applications. Compared with the standard grade Sandvik Bioline 12R10, Sandvik Bioline 11R51 and Sandvik Bioline 11R51 HV offer:
  • Higher tensile strength and tempering effect
  • Higher relaxation resistance, especially at elevated temperatures
  • Higher fatigue strength
  • Better corrosion resistance, through the addition of molybdenum
Service temperature: 200 to 300°C (330 to 570°F) These grades are used for applications such as root canal files, reamers, broaches, surgical suture needles, braces, and acupuncture needles.
